The wine tradition of Ronda is ancient, the first records date from 47-44 BC, when Ronda was the Iberian Roman city of Acinipo. In the archeological museum of Ronda, coins from this period are preserved in which the topic of the grape cluster in coin minting is verified, which undoubtedly demonstrates the importance that the vine had in the economic base of the city at that time .
Currently, Ronda has an important number of wineries, almost thirty. The types of grapes grown in our area are varied: Tempranillo, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, ...
The wineries to visit are the most prestigious wineries at the elaboration level, with the highest quality wines and with the highest number of awards obtained.
They are mainly family wineries, and where passion stands out in all processes, from the aging of the grapes to the final elaboration of the wines.
The wineries in Ronda occupy privileged landscaping areas, with spectacular views of the Sierras de Ronda or the Tajo de Ronda Gorge. The average altitude of the vineyards is over 850 meters above sea level and can reach almost 1000 meters of altitude.
The wines of Ronda are of an overwhelming personality, intense, long and very well-defined that have managed to conquer everyone's palate, both neophytes and seasoned tasters.
The visits always include a walk through the vineyards, you go to the processing room, where the whole process is explained until the final bottling. It concludes with a visit to the aging room, discovering the complete process from the vineyard to the wine tasting.
The final tasting is always accompanied by cold snacks, and quality products from the Serranía de Ronda: Payoyo Cheese, Bondiola (Loin Cane Type), and other round sausages, ...
